How to Use This Data

For Homeowners

If you have a "wholesale pass-through" plan (like Amber Electric), use this data to avoid using appliances during price spikes (Red) and shift usage to negative price windows (Green).

For Solar Owners

Negative prices often indicate excess solar in the grid. This is the worst time to export to the grid (you might be charged!) but the best time to charge a home battery.

Data Sources

  • Electricity: Sourced from AEMO's 5-minute dispatch reports (PUBLIC_DISPATCHIS).
  • Gas: Sourced from the Victorian DWGM and STTM daily reports.
  • Updates: The system polls AEMO's servers every 30 minutes.
